III. Activities:

1. Student bookshelf (from February to March 2025):

- VPMs will implement the plan so that Class Teachers can inform Parents about the Book Fair and “Say Yes to Reading!” Contest.

- VPMs will send a Notification (showing the link to the Open Letter on the school’s website) to Parents on February 17, 2025 via the AsianSchoolIPS App. The following content will be included in the Open Letter:

* Encourage each student to donate to the bookshelf 1 book on the topic of: natural science, society, literature or comics. Books can be in Vietnamese, English or bilingual. As for comics, only English publications are accepted.

* Students who donate books will receive an invitation to the Book Fair at The Asian International School.

* From February 18, 2025 to March 3, 2025, Class Teachers will receive and classify books donated by students.

- VPMs will collaborate with IPMs in selecting locations to display books, giving instructions on how to display, planning a schedule for students to visit the fair, etc.

- Class Teachers will hand over the list of names of students who donate books and classified books of their class to the library staff from March 4, 2025 to March 10, 2025. Library staff will arrange the student bookshelves at the display site.

2. Book Fair (from March 17, 2025 to March 31, 2025):

- On March 17, 2025, Class Teachers will send invitations to students who have donated books. Students with the invitation can borrow books from the student bookshelves to read at home for a period of 1 to 3 days. For these bookshelves, library staff must have a separate record of books borrowed and returned.

- VPMs will plan a schedule so that Starters 1, Starters 2 students can attend the Book Fair first, followed by Movers 1, Movers 2 and Flyers students afterwards. Students who do not donate books are still allowed to go to the Book Fair, but cannot borrow books home.

3. “Say Yes to Reading!” Contest (planned from March 17, 2025 to March 31, 2025):

- IPMs will come to each class to announce the contest to teachers and students.

- Class Teachers will send to the registered students the link to the list of 6 books as well as the E-library login password for them to read.

- Students will register with their Class Teachers.

- IPMs will make a list of registered students (Starters 1: 10 students/turn, Starters 2 to Flyers: each group will have 3-4 students who can be from the same or different classes).

- IPMs will organize the contest for each grade.

* Starters 1: following the Spelling Bee format.

- The students will compete individually. There will be 10 students per turn.

- A Foreign Teacher will read the sentence “Your word is ____”. For each student, the teacher will choose and read 1 word from the 6 books. If the student spells incorrectly, he/she will be eliminated. The contest will continue until there is 1 student left.

- The students are entitled to assistance by having the Foreign Teacher read 1 sentence in the book that has the word which needs to be spelt.

* Starters 2 to Flyers:

- The number of teams/turn depends on the number of teams/grade of the campus. If the campus has more than 4 teams/grade, at least 2 rounds are required. The winning teams will continue to compete until a winner is found.

- A Foreign Teacher will read the questions. There are 10 questions in total. The students will ring the bells to get the chance to answer the question. The team that rings the bell the fastest will be allowed to answer first. If the answer is incorrect, the remaining teams will have the right to ring the bell to give their answer.

- The questions are based on the knowledge in the learning materials set forth by the Class Teachers. Students should read and study the materials carefully in advance in order to grasp as much knowledge as possible.

- The winning individual or team of each grade will be honored and awarded as soon as the contest ends.

4. Book giving (from April 14, 2025 to April 25, 2025):

- Class Teachers will receive donated books from library staff.

- The students who have made the donation will be given a book different from the one that they donated.
