These three contestants defeated more than 1,000 other contestants who were excellent students from universities, colleges, vocational schools and high schools nationwide to participate in the coming MOSWC contest to compete with millions of contestants from 87 countries around the world.
This was the 4th time Vietnam participated in the MOSWC. Last year, Vietnam won one gold medal (there was only one gold, one silver and one bronze medal in each category), passing the U.S., China, Japan, England ... to make the top 10 countries.
8th Grader Competes With College Students
The fourth MOSWC took place in Vietnam was the first time a high school student won the third prize in Microsoft Excel 2010 category. It was Le Anh who was an 8th grader at The Asian International School. He earned a maximum score of 1.000/1.000, only 1 minute 37 seconds behind the first prize winner in the same category.
On the morning of June 11th, Le Anh was awarded the certificate of merit by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training for this achievement in addition to awards from the organizer in the Honors and Awards Ceremony of the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship 2013 in Vietnam which took place at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics.
Mr. Le Hong Son, Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education & Training, awarded the certificate of merit to Le Anh to recognize his achievement in winning the third prize at the national round of the MOSWC 2013
Le Anh said that he got acquainted with computers at an early age. He loved working on the computer, so he spent time on it everyday at school. A teacher discovered his talent and registered him for this contest.
Just practicing for over one month, Le Anh was very surprised to be the only high school student to win the third prize. “When entering the exam, I did not think I can have a chance to win because most of the contestants were college students,” Le Anh said.
Le Anh expects to continue to participate in future contests and achieve higher prizes. He wishes to become a programmer when he grows up to satisfy his passion for IT and math.
