On the full moon day of August, students of The Asian International School were not only eager to join in the activities to welcome the Mid – Autumn Festival such as painting, making lanterns, parading lanterns, arranging and eating cake and fruit… but also to join hands with friends, teachers to make the traditional meaningful moon cakes.
Making moon cakes by ourselves during the Mid – Autumn Festival is considered good culture practice, helps children preserve the beauty of traditional culture and creates conditions for students to promote creativity and enhance solidarity, mutual friendship as well.
In the afternoon of September 25 (August 13 in lunar calendar), students of AHS started to make moon cakes in their classrooms.
The new activity of making moon cakes attracted everyone, including boys. Making moon cakes by themselves also helps students understand the meaning of labor and respect what they have.
To make beautiful and delicious cakes, teachers contribute their efforts to their students’ products.
Especially for the students, reuniting moment with friends in the Mid – Autumn Festival was remembering memories at school.
After many hours of working, the students’ products were beautiful and attractive moon cakes “made in Asian School”.
Various shapes of colorful moon cakes were displayed carefully for the competition and the feast at school.
After making the moon cakes, students enjoyed the exciting atmosphere of the making lantern contest taking place in the morning of September 26.
Students were making lanterns having special meaning to their class.
With many attractive prizes, making lantern contest has attracted a lot of students’ consideration. This funny playground also contributed to maximize the creativity and ingenuity.
In this Mid – Autumn Festival, IPS students continuously join in parading lanterns, displaying and eating cake and fruit.
Like AHS students, IPS young ones have made lanterns by themselves to participate in parading lanterns in the school yard.
With their teachers’ guidance and help, our little students have created many beautiful and skillful lanterns.

“Having fun with full moon festival” in Mid – Autumn 2015 was organized creatively with interesting activities such as painting, making moon cakes, making lanterns, parading lanterns, displaying cake and fruit… for students of all campuses of the Asian International School. The activities not only create exciting playground for students after school, but also convey many meaningful messages of love, friendship, build up and remind students of national tradition and culture values.
