Each year, at the beginning of September, students nationwide welcome the new school year. All the students in their graceful Ao Dais and pristine white uniforms eagerly go to school, making the air extraordinarily vibrant and exciting. Together with many other high schools in the country, all AHS campuses of The Asian International School hold an opening ceremony of the new academic year 2012 - 2013 in the morning of 06/09/2012.

Over the last 13 years of formation and development, The Asian International School has been proud of its innovative teaching and learning methods, and its successes in educating students. In the future, following the new world trend in education, the school will have new projects which expand learning opportunities for its students.

A dedicated and enthusiastic teacher of the school, Ms. Mai Thi Net, who has made great contributions to the success of the school, said on the first day of the school year: "Knowledge and education help us step into life, and they are the path to our success in the future. Therefore, I expect that all of you will study hard to become excellent students and good citizens! And I also expect that you will study in a positive, active and creative way. You are the future of the country, you are the major key in the development and prosperity of the country, and so you have to try more - and do not stop trying."

Mr. Eric Bruen, an active and professional foreign teacher who always applies many advanced teaching methods into his lessons, spoke at the opening ceremony: "It is my honour to welcome new students, teachers and staff members, as well as welcome back all the familiar faces I've had the pleasure of working alongside over the past years. This is a very exciting time for students and teachers. For some of you, this may be your first year at the school, and things may seem exciting and strange - new friends are being made, you're getting to know new teachers and new subjects in a new environment. Others are getting reacquainted with old friends after the summer break. And for some of you it is your final year at the school - after years of dedicated work, the end of this particular journey is in sight. But for all, you have your own set of challenges to face and goals to make, meet and hopefully beat. There is a lot to learn and much to achieve over the next school year. We, the teachers of this school, are dedicated to delivering the highest possible level of education to our students. We are very fortunate to hold such a noble position of nurturing young minds. Albert Einstein said: 'It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.' To finish, I want to say, work hard, enjoy learning and have a successful year at The Asian International School.''

After a summer of many exciting activities, the students eagerly welcomed a new school year. Duong Hien Thong, a 6A41 student, representing all the new students, said: "Today marks the beginning of the new school year in Vietnam. People from all over the country are celebrating this event. I feel very excited and happy to be a student of The Asian International School. On behalf of all the new students of the school, I would like to say sincere thanks to all the teachers, staff members and parents who have contributed to the success of education. I promise to study hard to satisfy my parents and teachers."

Next is the honest statement of Trinh Hoang Nam, a student of class 12A6 at Cong Hoa Campus. He has achieved outstanding academic achievements and won the first prize in the "Cambridge English Speaking Contest 2012" in Vietnam and became the second-prize winner of "The Asian Cambridge English Speaking Contest 2012" held in the United Kingdom. He said: "It is my honor to have been granted this chance to represent all the students. I know you are eager and excited about studying in a new grade with your old friends, but to learn effectively, we must first set our goals for this year. To do that, let's look at what we have and have not done over the past year. I am proud that all of us have spent great effort in studying and playing and have achieved a certain level of accomplishment and satisfaction as well as achieved many honorable prizes in several competitions in and outside of school, both academic and athletic. Finally, I wish you joy and success in this new school year. But for now, let's relax and enjoy the ceremony."

And to welcome the new high school students, The Asian International School held entertaining activities with performances by current students. This was a gift for every student of the school and this also showed the unity and harmony at The Asian International School.

At the end of the ceremony, to memorize the fun and exciting moments of the first day of school, students were photographed with their teachers and friends.

The opening ceremony of the new school year 2012 - 2013 ended with great success. That was the start of a new school year when The Asian International School teachers and students set goals to achieve more successes in the coming year.

"I am a 8th grade student at The Asian International School and this is my eighth time to take part in the opening ceremony of the new school year at the school. I had a deep impression of the ceremony. Before the ceremony, I was very excited, as there's something very strange inside of me, and I felt like something important was going to happen. My mother prepared everything for me, such as textbooks, pens, and pencils.... I will study hard to make my parents and teacher happy."

"For the first day of the new school year, I was eager to prepare everything fully, such as clothes, shoes, books, etc., and I am so nervous because I will study in a new environment with new friends and teachers. My new school is very beautiful with many green trees around. I promise to study hard to satisfy my parents and teachers. "
